Tasawwuf is nothing but rectification of niyyah (intention), seeking and eliminating the root of all inner and outer sins from oneself and earning the pleasure of Allah (SWT) by beautifying oneself from hair of the head to the nails of the toe with the inner and outer Sunnah of the Prophet Muhammad (SAW). The seeker of Tasawwuf must achieve this through abundant Zikr of Allah (SWT).
IstighfārDūrūd SharīfTilāwat of Qur`ān SharīfRāb’tā-e-ShaykhWuqūf-e-QalbiMurāqbah
The seeker should ask forgiveness of all sins from Allah (SWT) with true remorse and intentions of leaving them by reciting the following one hundred times in the morning evening:
اَسْتَغْفِرَاللهَ الَّذِيْ لَا اِلٰهَ اِلَّا اللهُ هُوَ الْحَيُّ الْقَيَّوُمُ وَ اَتُوْبُ اِلَيْهِ
The seeker should express love of Prophet Muhammad (SAW) and yearn to be closer to him by reciting the following one hundred times in the morning and evening:
اَللّٰهُمـَّ صَلِّي عَلٰى سَيِّدْنَا مُحَمَّدٍ وَ عَلٰى اٰلِى سَيِّدْنَا مُحَمَّدٍ وَبَارِكْ وَسَلِّمَ
The seeker remain attached to the Word of Allah (SWT) by reciting one Juz of the Qur`ān everyday
The seeker must keep close company with the Shaykh and adopt him as a guide through the quest for and of the love of Allah (SWT)
The seeker must maintain the remembrance of Allah (SWT) in his heart while making his/her way through the mundane activities of the life of dunya by imagining that his/her spiritual heart is calling the name of اللہ repeatedly while his/her hands are busy in daily chores
The seeker should cut oneself from the dunya for at least 20 minutes every day by sitting with his/her head lowered, eyes closed, preferably facing the Qibla in a state of Wudhu. The seeker should imagine that his/her spiritual heart (close to the physical heart in the left side of the chest) is being showered with the mercy of Allah (SWT) which is wiping the darkness from his/her heart. He/she has to constantly think that his/her spiritual heart is saying اللہ اللہ اللہ.
